Welcome to The Thai Guys Cafe!

Cookin' with Thai
In one of my conversations on the phone with Ming before they arrived, he told me that they would love to cook for us. I hate to cook, so that made me a very happy camper. So, on several nights after long, grueling days of torching, we went to the Oriental Grocery, and they bought many mysterious looking things to prepare for dinner. I sat back and enjoyed. (Teaching is hard work, you know...)

Each one of the guys would cook a dish. On the first night, Thor made a traditional soup with shrimp, mussels and lime, Ming made pork omelette, and Nui made a stir fried chicken with vegetables in a sauce.

These guys liked everything SPICY! but made it mild for me, and just added hot sauce to theirs. Thank goodness!

Of all the guys, Thor likes to cook the most.
He was frustrated with my dull kitchen knives.

Well... that's what happens when the head chef
prepares most of her meals out of a box !

Here are some of the ingredients that they bought at the grocery. Garlic cloves, peppers and limes were combined with mysterious sauces. My kitchen smelled quite exotic for several days

Nui shows off a shrimp...
YUCK!

Thor even keeps everything on the chopping block neat and orderly!!
Ming makes a wonderful Omelette
It was fascinating watching these guys work.
(Of course, I always enjoy watching other people cook...)
Here Nui is preparing his part of the meal.
East Versus West....
The Battle of the Chefs

One of the nights we were enjoying Thai food, my daughter's boyfriend, Justin, was there and insisted on preparing his American Specialty - Hamburgers !

The kitchen was a mess, but at least we ate well.

It's A Small, Small World:
One of the things I discovered was that Ming had originally booked a class to learn beadmaking at Arrow Springs in California, but wasn't able to get the travel visas in time for the class in July, and wasn't able to wait until the next one in September.
Then he did some internet research, and that is how he came to find my website. Lucky for me!

When I saw my friends at Arrow Springs at The Gathering in Portland, they remembered talking to Ming, and were pleased he had found a class, since they couldn't accomodate him. So, I got to teach the Thai Guys, and have them make wonderful food for me.

(I promised Ming I'd say this: )
Arrow Springs, Just Look What You Missed !

Here we are just before dinner, with our delicious meal spread out before us.
Those Thai Guys can COOK !
Even better, they insisted on cleaning up after themselves !
A delicious meal, and the dishes washed. I was sorry they had to go home!

Thank you, Thor, Nui and Ming for wonderful meals, and a lot of fun!
